I got hooked on this product about 7 years ago after undergoing my first ever set of chemical peels. More on my chemical peel success in another article ;).
I needed makeup that wouldn’t clog my beautiful new skin. My aesthetician suggested that I try Jane Iredale’s PurePressed Powder Base, a mineral foundation that didn’t contain any Talc or Bismuth Oxychloride (ingredients commonly associated with skin problems) and even had SPF 20.
The following product has made Holy Grail status in my beauty arsenal…
And the rest is history…Seven Update: 10 amazing years of history!
This powder has been in my beauty arsenal ever since I discovered it in 2010 in the color Warm Silk, and is probably my most used product. I’ve gotten several HUNDRED people hooked on it already…this number grows daily.
Every liquid foundation I’ve worn looked unnatural and transparent without following with this mineral foundation.
What I mean by that is that liquid foundation seemed to sit on the skin in an obvious layer, where the skin and foundation seemed separate. However, the skin and the foundation become one when this powder is applied.
It adds coverage and a more natural, glowy finish to the skin that photographs like a dream. It really doesn’t look powdery or cakey in real life either (but my skin is hydrated AF!).
It makes my skin look like skin but better!
AND it never ever clogged my pores! 🙂
What’s more is that the coverage is buildable!
To illustrate to you the power of this powder, I’ll tell you about the time I had a dark bruise under my eye (many years ago!). I looked like I got punched in the face!
I put every concealer I had on it, and you could still see it! You know what hid it? I really patted on some of the PurePressed Powder Base over the concealer, it was like magic! I got by without having to explain to people how I got the bruise, so don’t ask. 🙂
Nowadays, this is the only makeup that I wear (with a touch of concealer under my eyes)!
It makes me look put together and polished. If I have little imperfection however, I just pat on a little extra powder on the spot and it disappears.
USE: I usually dust on a light layer of the powder with a fluffy brush, but if I feel I need more coverage then I pat it on with a powder puff or a smaller more dense brush.
Even a q-tip would work to get it where you want it for some spot concealing! 🙂
I got the gold package the first time I bought the powder, with future purchases I would pay a little less for just the refill. However, the gold compact got scratched up to high hell so I just use the refill packaging as my actual compact.
Jane Iredale updated their packaging in the last few years, to make it prettier but EVEN MORE SLIPPERY. I buy the blushes with the new packaging and have broken at least 3 of them already. Whoops.
I still use every bit of the product up because it’s that good. Let me know if you’d like to see some Jane Iredale blush swatches and a review in the comments!
I happen to love the plastic refill packaging though because it saves this powder when I drop it…however, I’d prefer it if it came in something more sustainable than plastic *cough cough* Jane Iredale.
Final Thoughts
This powder is beyond Olena Approved. It gets an A+, 5 stars, and all my love!
I don’t know how many of these I’ve gone through…More than 12 maybe? It lasts about 8 months of daily use, and is very well priced for the quality.
Have you tried it yet??? What kind of face makeup do you wear?
Love,
Olena
