I was looking for new blush colours since my favourite pink from Jane Iredale got discontinued and I stumbled upon Silk Naturals, a brand that does skin care and makeup. It’s the makeup that interested me!
Before we continue, know that this post in not sponsored!!! I am writing about these products because I’m genuinely impressed.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a huge colour selection for mineral blushes and highlighters IN MY LIFE.
So I loaded up on 11 shades on my first haul — because guess what?
They’re 4-7.50$ a pop!
I have never seen any non pore-clogging makeup of this quality at such an affordable price point. AND some shades come in generous tester sizes so that you don’t have to commit fully to a shade before seeing if you’re truly obsessed with it.
Check out the shades I purchased: Tart Light, Wish You Were Here, Ozone, Sweetie, Heavenly, Global, Envious, Charming, Babydoll, Glint (middle).
Shade Descriptions
The shades include blushes, highlighters, and eyeshadows but they can all be used anywhere on the face.
The name order starts at 12 o’clock with the neon pink shade called Tart Light and go clockwise from there, ending with the middle shade, Glint.
Tart Light
Appropriately named, this neon cool bright-as-can-be pink looks like it would belong on a tart, but don’t be fooled!
When used with a light hand, Tart Light gives you that flushed-from-within rosy glow as though you just walked out of the cold or…out of a steamy bedroom.
It’s actually one of my faves from the entire haul, can be worn alone or with a bit of contour. It really makes the cheeks pop!
I got it in the tester size because I thought I might not actually wear it, but I will be repurchasing the full size when I run out because it’s stunning. The tester size might run out in…3-6 months!
Pro tip: if you use a bit too much, you can tone it down with your mineral powder foundation. The pink will still pop from underneath without looking unnatural! 🙂
Wish You Were Here
This is a peachy/coral shade with a subtle shimmer to it. I tend to wear it on my eyelids more than on my cheeks because I prefer cooler blush tones, but it does a wonderful job bringing out the blue in my eyes.
I think it would suit deeper/warmer skin tones more.
Ozone
Ozone is a silvery, light purple, blue shimmer shade that looks absolutely gorgeous and reminds me of unicorns, but because I have so many other shades it gets lost in the crowd — meaning I don’t reach for it often because I favour peachy/pink shades for my eyes.
Perhaps you can figure out a way to incorporate it into your looks better than I have!
Sweetie
THIS.IS.MY.FAVE. Enough said?
I was never a highlighter person until I found Sweetie.
Sweetie is the perfect highlighter for my pale skin. It gives me GLOW without too much colour and blends in with my skin allowing the light to catch it and make my cheeks look angelic AF. Don’t be fooled but the subtlety in the photo (below).
I even like to apply it to my cheekbones on days when I literally wear zero other makeup, so just on top of my sunscreen for an added “holy f*ck is that skin real!?” effect.
Fun fact: It’s actually a near perfect dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills highlighter colour in Starburst minus all the nonsense ingredients.
Heavenly
This is a bronzy peach shade that can be used on more bronzy looks as a blush, or on the eyelid as is my preference. It makes the blues of my eyes really pop.
Conversely, I think it can be used as a highlighter on darker skin tones as well.
Fun fact: This is a dupe for MAC’s Stereo Rose Mineralize Skin Finish.
Global
This peachy shimmer shade is a truly gorgeous blush/highlighter but it’s another one I find myself forgetting to use. There’s literally nothing wrong with it, the simmer is spectacular and sophisticated but other shades seem to take the spotlight for my purposes.
Again, I would love to hear how you would use this shade!
Envious
I prefer this shade for my eyelids versus my face because it’s a very intense sparkly/shimmer duo-chrome. It’s one of the sparkliest shades of all (see photo below). This is another shade I don’t reach for as often, only because there’s not enough space on my face to use all these shades.
But I still LOVE this gorgeous shade. I can look at it all day long! Tell me how you use it if you’ve tried it! 🙂
Charming
Charming was my favourite pink until I tried Tart Light. Charming is the perfect natural pink — the colour of an actual flush with a super subtle sparkle. It’s fabulous!
Babydoll
I use Babydoll on “no makeup” makeup days. It can be a subtle, almost slightly bronzy pink that picks up the light beautifully and warms up the face without looking dirty. It has a gorgeous shimmer in it.
Glint
This is another fave. Glint is the shade for you if you want sparkle that’s seen from outer space. In other words, Glint is not subtle.
It’s a champagne coloured shimmer/sparkle that can be work in the inner corner or middle of the lid, and if you’re not afraid of attention as a see—from-space highlighter. I haven’t had the balls to try it as a highlighter yet.
My Second Haul From Silk Naturals
After trying these 11 shades I couldn’t wait to try more — so here’s another 6 shades from my second haul from from Silk Naturals!
I had to stop myself at 6, because I was seriously tempted to get all the shades…
Starting from 11 o’clock and moving clockwise, the shade names are: Honey Child, Aura, Whiz-Kid, Quench, Phantom, Fluff.
Shade Descriptions
These are mostly highlighter/eyeshadow shades with a focus on sparkle because you know I love that SPARKLY AF life.
Honey Child
This is gold gold gold — the sparkliest gold you can imagine! The sparkles are a bit larger than the usual particle sizes, but it’s fabulous.
It can have some fall-out though, which will still look magical.
Aura
Aura is hands down my favourite shade of all. Imagine fairies and unicorns and angels…this is Aura. It has flecks of pink and gold and red sparkles and looks magical and ethereal and hypnotising.
I love using it on the middle of my eyelid. The particle size is a little less finely milled so you can experience some magical looking fall out.
I would use a dense brush and pack this on gently, instead of using a fluffy brush.
Whiz-Kid
Whiz-Lis looks pink in the jar but goes on looking lavender on the skin.
Fun tip: I love it for the under eye area, where I only apply it under my iris to bring out the blue of my eyes.
Quench
This is a pinky/lilac duo chrome with some pink/red flecks that warm it up. Quench is a very cool shade that isn’t for everyone, but it’s stunning. I use it on my eyes sometimes.
Phantom
This is the second highlighter after Sweetie that I reach for sometimes. Sweetie is a cool toned peach, almost pearlescent shade while Phantom has some gold flecks in it.
It picks up the light beautifully when used on the cheek bones or brow bone.
Fluff
Fluff is a cool-toned pearl highlighter that is super sophisticated and gorgeous. I also like it for the brow bone. When applied generously, it won’t just make you reflect light, it will make you look metallic wet. It’s absolutely stunning, and upon writing this article I decided to wear it instead of Sweetie…and I may have found a new fave.
Fun fact: It’s another near perfect dupe for Anastasia Beverly Hills highlighter colour in Crushed Pearl minus all the nonsense ingredients
Final Thoughts
This is my favourite brand of highlighters and blushes so far. The selection is unbeatable, the colours are sophisticated, the shimmer is unreal.
And the price point cannot be beaten!
I actually like every single shade, and I go through different makeup moods and colours…So I’m sure that I’ll end up using the shades that aren’t my current favourites down the road.
The point is, it’s hard to choose between them because they’re all so ridiculously beautiful.
I just sat and looked at the swatches on my hand for like half-an hour, hypnotised by the beautiful sparkles and then I didn’t want to wash them off…So be careful with all this sparkle!
Let me know which shades you’ve tried and which shades you think I would love if you’re already a big Silk Naturals makeup fan!
Love,
Olena
